TOPIC: UNDERSTANDING THE MIND OF GOD

TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 2:10-16, JOHN 15:15, PHILIPPIANS 4:8. ROMANS 12:1-2, 

             AMOS 3:7.

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God". (Romans 12:1-2 KJV).

    INTRODUCTION: Knowing the mind of God is the fundamental basic truth that every believer must key into. Before you understand the mind of God, you need to know WHOM God is, God is the strongest and Almighty one, the eternal existence, who created the world and no one created, the one who is to be feared.

        If you don’t know God you cannot know His mind and His will, if you are a stranger to God, He cannot reveal His mind to you, just as you can reveal your mind, plan to person you don’t know, so also God cannot and will not expose His mind to you. Psalm 25 vs 14. So, who are you? Are you a saint or sinner, corrupt or Holy? The basic thing is that he who wants to know and understand the mind of God must be “Born Again” John 3:1-7.

        Jesus is the key to the mind of God. Understanding the mind of God has to do with the renewal of your mind; that is to put off “things that are not of faith in God” and out on the mind of Christ.

 According to Isaiah 11:1-2. Six perfect gifts from God accompanies putting on the mind of Christ which are:

• Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding
• Spirit of Counsel and Might
• Spirit of Knowledge and fear of God.

Therefore, the mind of God is the intention, thought and will of God which was made manifest through the sacrifice of His son Jesus Christ on the cross to any spiritual minded individual man/woman who present their bodies as a living sacrifice, Holy and accepted to God, John 15 vs 15.

                                         WHAT YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE MIND OF GOD

      1. Jesus.
      2. Manual. 
      3. Holy Spirit.
      4. Intimacy.
      5. Focus.
      6. Stay tune with God.
      7. Subject your flesh to the Holy Spirit.
      8. Sensitivity.

1.  JESUS: You need a rebirth- You must exchange your life with Him. That is given God your life, thought, emotion and desires that are contrary to His mind. In return, God will give you the intimate knowledge of Christ. Any mind other than that of Christ causes you live a disobedient life. John 3:1-7

2.  MANUAL: Is a book giving instructions and guide to users. To every Christian, your manual is the Holy Bible which gives inspiration of God to man. You need it for your spiritual and survival. 2 Timothy 3:16.

                              WHAT THE MANUAL DOES

• It is our Spiritual microscope to understand the mind of God.
• It is our Spiritual sword. Hebrew 4:13.
• It will make us wise unto Salvation. 2 Timothy 3:15.
• It is a revealer of all thought. Hebrew 4:13
• It gives room for transformation.
• It brings about Spiritual growth.

3. HOLY SPIRIT: Holy Spirit cannot be separated from God, it is through Holy Spirit that God reveal His mind, empowering individual and discloses His personal will to man. John 16:13. Jesus Christ departed for the Holy Spirit to come.

4. INTIMACY: Having a close personal relationship with God, your heart, soul, and body become one in Christ, not in the physical act alone. When you do that, the following will be yours,

• His Agape love will become yours.
• His supernatural thoughts (mind) will become yours.
• His supernatural power will become yours.

Act 1:8. “But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you and ye shall be witness unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and in Samaria and unto the utter most part of the Earth.

5. FOCUS: Focusing is the power of distinction, any man that is not on God given assignment cannot know the mind of God. When you are no longer trace-able to your original way of calling (believe), not looking up to God again for power but seeking for power somewhere: such as joining occult group, you can never understand the mind of God. Colossian 3:2.

6. STAY IN TUNE WITH GOD: This is to maintain a good study and prayer life in the realm of  God’s glory. For God to speak His mind to you, you have to stay connected listen to Him always. Most people like to tell God what they want from Him, but only few ask for His mind to be revealed. Daniel 2:17 ff

• Effective study the word of God.
• Persistence prayer without season.

7.  SUBJECT YOUR FLESH TO THE SPIRIT OF GOD: Flesh is the natural sinful tendencies which are always at war against the Spirit of God. Believer either submits to the Spirit of God or yield to the flesh. Galatians 5:16-17, Romans 7:21-24. Many knew that Jesus died and rose again and do tell others, but none of what they tell others make sense to them. To such people, Bible is irrelevant and their life is also irrelevant to God. They can never understand the mind of God. What about you?

      8. SENSITIVITY: The ability to understand God when speaking, as we mature on daily bases and the Spirit of God flows through our heart, the name of God becomes more deeper in our life. We should be more sensitive to the fire of His presence and the gentle whispers of His mind (voice). 1 Samuel 3:1-11, Numbers 12:6-6, Isaiah 43:7.

     

            BARRIER FOR NOT UNDERSTANDING THE MIND OF GOD  

             1.Sin.
       2. Lack of communication.
       3. Not giving to God your total attention.
       4. Human Ideology.
       5. Flesh activities.
       6. Pride.
       7. Unreadiness to follow Christ.

             8. Disconnection from the throne of grace.
       9. Ascribing the glory of God to yourself.

            THE WAY OUT 

            1. Go back to the throne of grace (Cross of Calvary).

            2. Humility (Humble yourself totally to God and man).

            3. God first (Consider things of God first).

            4.  Listening: Readiness to hear from God.

            BENEFITS OF UNDERSTANDING THE MIND OF GOD

             1. Access to God hidden treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Colossians 2:3.
             2. You have the full knowledge of the mystery of God. Colossians 2:2.

             3.  Having cordial relationship with God.
             4. Freedom from Sin. Isaiah 1:18, Psalm 119:11.
             5. You will become the solution to people’s problems. 

      CONCLUSION: The greatest decision you can ever make for you to know and understand the mind of God is to open up your life and invite Jesus Christ to come in as your Lord and Saviour. The only answer to all lives problems is “Jesus Christ”

      Human faculty cannot fathom God’s mind nor come to the fullness of knowing Him unless Holy Spirit guides you. John 14:26.
